Limahuli Garden

Limahuli Garden

What: Botanical garden and preserve
Where: On Kauaʻi’s North Shore

Located in one of the most biodiverse valleys in the Hawaiian Islands, Limahuli Garden is a Pu'uhonua (Place of Refuge) for an ecological system that honors the connection between nature and humanity. Walk through a native forest to catch a glimpse of what Kauaʻi looked like before the first Hawaiians arrived. Learn about the plants that were brought with them. Take a peaceful stroll through ancient terraces of kalo (taro) and cascading water. Trek to the top of the Whale Trail where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains, including Kauaʻi’s iconic Mt. Makana, also known as Bali Hai.

Along with well-marked signs, the gardens offer a booklet for an easy and informative self-guided tour. Enjoy a relaxing stroll by yourself or bring the keiki (children) to teach them about mālama honua (caring for our earth).
