La Hana Highway (HI-360) part de la ville de Kahului, au centre de Maui, et suit un parcours sinueux le long de la côte nord de l’île sur près de 85 km. Pour se rendre à Hana, il faut compter 3 heures de route, mais ce trajet peut prendre toute une journée, tant les panoramas sont magnifiques et offrent de belles occasions de photos, et les produits proposés sur les étals sont tentants.
Après plus de 600 virages et 50 ponts, vous arriverez à Hana, charmante petite ville où le temps semble être un concept abstrait, et « aloha », un véritable mode de vie. Juste après Hana, vous trouverez le secteur de Kipahulu du parc national d’Haleakala (Haleakala National Park) et les superbes bassins d’Oheo, les « sept bassins sacrés » (The Seven Sacred Pools), pour une baignade rafraîchissante bien méritée après ce long trajet.
